About Amanda

My practice philosophy focuses on assisting clients to find balance in their lives. This definition of balance varies from one individual to the next. When we lead balanced lives, we are better-equipped to withstand the storms of life. In order to achieve this, I understand the need for a safe environment where trust is built through genuine honesty and authenticity. I am an encourager; not one to pass judgment, nor one to please. My passion is my clients: walking alongside of you and empowering you to make healthy decisions.
I believe in an integrative approach which cultivates mindful awareness – enhancing emotional balance and resilience.

Developing my yoga practice and mindfulness training over the past year has shaped me personally & professionally. These practices continue to serve as daily teachers, consistently guiding me back to the essence of who I am. My work as a Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapist is fueled by an inner pull to assist others as they cultivate love, kindness & compassion – within themselves and in their relationships – through healing, skill-building & deep personal growth.
This seed has grown and flourished into a deep passion to share this wisdom with those seeking greater inner peace, emotional balance and a sense of wholeness. This led me down a path of wanting to help others through authentic connection.

Education & Work Experience

My undergraduate degree as a double major in Biology and Psychology at Western Illinois University, initially started my desire to work with people on balancing the mind-body connection. During this time, I was able to understand the link between the mind-body balance and the connection to being mentally healthy. To further my understanding of this connection, I received a Master Degree in Counseling from Argosy University where I was trained via Client-Centered Approach.
Following graduate school, I worked for Metropolitan Family Services as a community-based individual and family Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). I provided counseling to children, adolescents & families – gaining experience treating clients with trauma, attachment issues, juvenile justice involvement youth, , boundaries, self-esteem, personal growth. and working with families, systemically. The years of this “in-the-trenches” work gave me invaluable perspective on human resilience.
Today, I own a private practice in Illinois, working with individuals, families, adolescents and young adults, helping them achieve mind- body balance in everyday life.
